Starting back in 1944, children and youth who lack access to outdoor camping programs have experienced a residential Christian summer camp which, for many, has been a life-changing time of fun, personal growth and spiritual development. More than 10,000 Atlanta-area young people have attended through the years. Camp counseling opportunities have provided an excellent leadership development experience for many college-age students, including a number who went on to become pastors or enter other forms of ministry.
The 100-acre former site of CampWesley in SouthFultonCounty has been sold due to encroaching development. A new CampWesley will be developed on a beautiful 300+ acre site in MeriwetherCounty. Planning for children and youth ministries to be offered in conjunction with the new CampWesley is now underway.
In 2009, Wesley Community Centers, Inc. suspended Camp Wesley's traditional residential camping program and partnered with local Churches in our community to provide an effective ministry to children and youth for these changing times. In 2012, we will resume the residential camping experience with a possible session in 2011. For more information contact Joy Magnus, Executive Director of Wesley Community Centers.
